Aldeburgh is a small coastal town on
the East coast of England lying between the sea and the River Alde
at Slaughden where there are two sailing clubs.
The town has many ancient buildings including the Moot Hall, hotels,
cinema, public houses and shops and is completely unspoiled by commercialisation,
which affects so many seaside towns.
It has an atmosphere of its own and has not yet caught up with the rest
of England.
Aldeburgh is ideally situated for keen walkers and
bird watchers as there are many pleasant walks in the surrounding
countryside and it is possible to walk along the beach to the RSPB
Bird Reserve at Minsmere.
The world famous Aldeburgh Music Festival, which attracts people from
all over the country, is held at Snape Maltings, some four miles distant. |
