Thorpeness is a small village about two miles along the coast from Aldeburgh, built by Glencairn
Stuart Ovilvie, as a holiday village, in the l930's.
Thorpeness has a Craft Shop and Coffee Shop which sells basic food, butter, eggs,
etc. Further shopping facilities are available in Aldeburgh and Leiston. There is also a
public house which has a small restaurant.
The Meare Boating Lake is also nearby together with tennis courts and golf courses.
For those who prefer not to swim in the sea there is a Swimming Pool in the Sports
Centre at Leiston. |
